Robert Bolling emigrated from his native England to Virginia in 1660, settling in Charles City County, Virginia. He married twice, his first wife being Jane Rolfe, granddaughter of Pocahontas, Indian Princess and daughter of Powhatan, who married John Rolfe in 1614. He died in 1650, leaving issue, and was buried at “Kippax,” the family seat, his remains later removed to the family burial vault in Petersburg, Virginia.
