Sir Thomas Fleming, second son of the Earl of Wigdon in Scotland, married Miss Tarleton in England, then emigrated to Virginia in 1616, settling first at Jamestown, and later removing to New Kent County, where he died leaving issue.

The Thomas Fleming file includes information on 7505 descendants with 1503 different surnames. It covers fifteen generations, with the earliest birth occurring in 1593.
