Theoderick Bland was born and baptized in St Antholin’s Parish in London in 1629. He and his brother Edward were merchants. After his brother’s death, he came to Virginia in 1653 to manage the family’s large merchant holdings, which were largely vested in his brother John. He settled in Charles City County and married Anna Maria Bennett, daughter of Richard and Anne (Utie) Bennett. Theoderick died in 1669 and was buried at “Westover,” in Charles City County, Virginia, leaving at least three sons.
