Do you share a common ancestor with General Robert E Lee? His ancestress, Anne (Lovelace) Gorsuch, born in County Kent, England, married Rev John Gorsuch, an aggressive Royalist who smothered in a "haymow" while hiding from his pursuers. After the death of her husband, Anne and seven of their eleven children emigrated from their native England to Virginia before Feb 1652, when Theophilus Hone was granted land for headrights, among whom were Anne and her seven children. She died shortly after their arrival (if not on the voyage, itself), as in June of 1652 letters of administration on her estate were issued to her son Daniel, in England.
The Anne (Lovelace) Gorsuch file includes information on 5134 individuals with 1036 different surnames.
